Safe Harbor Support Center is committed to our community and our clients, many of whom are part of the vulnerable populations who are at risk for more severe reactions to the COVID-19 virus. In the past we have followed the Kennewick School District for closures. With a six-week closure of all public and private K-12 schools we do have to make modifications to programs to help ensure client and staff safety.
We take our duty to the community very seriously and want to ensure we are still providing the services we are able to while doing our part to help slow the spread of this virus, or “flatten the curve” to help prevent our medical community from being overwhelmed by the number of patients in need of care.
Program Closures and Cancellations:
ALL current classes are cancelled. We will contact current registered participants with further details.
There will be no class held for the months of March or April for the following programs:
Taming the Dragons
Parent for Parents classes (Dependency 101, or 201)
4 Hour Parenting Seminar
Until further notice the Sails Outlet is closed - we can not risk the health of our wonderful volunteers.
Other restrictions for health and safety of our staff and clients:
NO physical donations will be accepted at any of our program locations for a minimum of 8 weeks.
At that time we will advise if we will resume our normal donation policy or continue with restricted donations for health and safety.
Non-essential staff members, volunteers, visitors etc. are prohibited from visiting at Safe Harbor’s administration building, and My Friends' Place.
Clients are not to enter the administration building.
How will we be serving our community?
Family Assistance will be closed temporarily while staff are briefed and undergo training for new procedures - and will resume Tuesday 3/17/2020.
At that time the policy will be that Family Assistance Packages are ONLY provided to those who have prescheduled, confirmed pick ups. Family Assistance appointments will be made via our website REQUEST ASSISTANCE HERE
We will not be providing drop in assistance - there will be no exception.
Our dedicated staff at My Friends’ Place will continue to provide a safe, caring environment to homeless teens in our community.
And how can you help?
We will still accept monetary donations at this time to support clients utilizing the programs that do remain operational, including our family assistance programs, and My Friends' Place.
Stay safe. Wash your hands. The efforts of the healthy who will not be severely impacted will help those who are most at risk for severe complications.
